University of Queensland Acting Provost Professor Joanne Wright has announced the appointment of Mark Erickson as ҹɫÊÓƵ’s new Academic Registrar and Director of Academic Services.

Professor Wright said Mr Erickson’s extensive background in student and academic administration was enhanced by a strong understanding of higher education governance, the regulatory landscape and financial and resource management.

Mr Erickson has been Registrar, Student Administration, at the Australian National University since 2012.

He is a member of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency’s “Register of Experts”, and president and chair of the Australian and New Zealand (HEUG). He also sits on the global HEUG board.

Mr Erickson is part of the , which is working toward the introduction of electronic transcripts and data exchange for Australian and New Zealand universities.

He has worked in a number of roles at the University of New South Wales and ANU since 1995, and  holds a Bachelor of Social Science (UNSW 1994).

 “Mr Erickson is eagerly planning his move to sunny Brisbane and we look forward to welcoming him here when he starts on 29 August,” Professor Wright said.

“On behalf of the Senior Executive, I thank Mrs Maureen Bowen for her leadership as Academic Registrar over the past five years, and for her 27-year career with ҹɫÊÓƵ.

“Maureen is widely respected for her professionalism, unyielding ethical standards and clarity of vision. She has been a steady and knowledgeable guide for the University through some challenging transitions.

“I am delighted that Maureen will stay on until the end of November to assist with the handover to Mark. She will work part-time from the end of August, as Director, Special Projects, in the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).”
