From dating to dieting, from music to sports, economics can be used to explain just about anything, according to award-winning economist Dr Andrew Leigh.
Dr Leigh will discuss how economics impacts on everyday life at the launch of his book, The Economics of Just About Everything, at ҹɫÊÓƵ School of Economics on 31 July.
The launch will include a public lecture drawing on his previous experience as a professor of Economics at the Australian National University and his current role as Federal Member for Fraser, Shadow Assistant Treasurer and Shadow Minister for Competition.
ҹɫÊÓƵ School of Economics Head Professor Flavio Menezes said the book launch was an exciting opportunity for students, staff and the public to hear from a well-respected economist.
“Dr Leigh has a wealth of economics experience, having worked as a lawyer and as a principal adviser to the Australian Treasury,” Professor Menezes said.
In 2011 Dr Leigh received the prestigious ‘Young Economist Award’ from the Economics Society of Australia, a prize given every two years to the best Australian economist under 40.
